Professional Development Programme (PDP) for Research Induction (RI)

Our Professional Development Programme on Research Induction (PDP-RI) complements university research offerings and supports research students in terms of enabling independent research and achieving their research aim. The programme sessions are specialised accordingly considering the individual's research experience, e.g. beginner to expert researcher. The skills developed through this programme will assist the attendee in resolving various challenges faced in their research; it will also enable them to conduct independent research and produce high quality research work.

• To equip participants for conducting independent research.

• PDP-RI provides participants with basic understanding about the research phenomenon or concept to eventually achieve their research aim.

• Anyone pursuing their research career or starting a research-based qualification should attend this programme.

• Participants will be able to attain expertise about their field of study, become confident & trained to conduct independent research tasks in the real-world.

• Series of sessions and hands-on workshops depending on the level of training required, as shown in figure. It could start from half-day session to one-, two-, or three- days sessions.

• Familiarity or exposure to basic research; a curious mind.

Why PDP-IIR?

• Conducting research is an interesting, yet a complex and sophisticated, phenomenon. The art of research requires adequate skills and advanced mainstream knowledge about leading trends and technologies in order to produce quality or useful research work.

• Our PDP-RI programme offers such skills and knowledge by which the research professionals and young researchers could enhance their creativity and intellect. By attending this programme, participants are able to conduct independent research and get familiarised with the contemporary trends. 

Specialised Consultations

• We also offer Specialised Consultation Sessions to individual participants that are struggling or facing challenges with their research. These sessions could be provided in, but are not limited to, the following prospects/scenarios:

 

- lost with research direction

- trouble in establishing research question

- problem with defining research aim or objectives

- how to filter irrelevant literature

- difficulty with selecting a suitable research method

- I don't know how to focus my research topic

- how can I balance research with family
